Share videos on LinkedIn to drive up your reach

Video on LinkedIn is still relatively new so the algorithm really favours it. Think of a question you frequently hear from your ideal customers and create a short video that answers that question.

If you commit to doing this once a week, your audience will know when to tune in and you’ll train the algorithm to recognise that your content is engaging and so worth prioritising.

Engage, engage, engage – but in a more efficient way

Social media management can be time-consuming and it’s easy to get side-tracked. Don’t get distracted by constantly check your LinkedIn notifications. I actually turned off my email notifications so I have more control.

If you want to be as efficient as a German (and we love efficiency), schedule two 20-minute time slots into your day and only comment and reply during that time. People don’t expect an immediate response to their comments – but you should always make time to reply.

How to put the fun back into your posting

My approach to LinkedIn has changed over the last 5 months. I used to think it was a pretty stuffy network, but I am now more relaxed in my approach. Don’t be afraid to use emojis and humour if it suits your brand. LinkedIn may be a professional network, but it’s still a social network, so start conversations, be yourself and let people get to know the person behind the business.

We all love to learn new things and reflect on our successes, so why not ask people to share their greatest achievements of the past quarter or month? These types of conversations produce really good energy.

People don’t want perfect on LinkedIn. They want authenticity.

I recently shared tips for how to get started with personal branding when the brand is you. This blog was an honest account of what I struggled with when starting out with personal branding.

People really connected with the message on LinkedIn. The post had more than 1,500 views and over 50 comments and likes. Don’t be afraid to show emotion and talk about the challenges you face in your professional life. People relate better to non-perfect people.
